Our of journalists looks at the big stories in the news.
What made The Short List this week?
- The Springfield City Council this week voted down a non-binding resolution that said police should not coordinate with federal immigration authorities unless there's a court-issued warrant. Some councilors say they received the proposal's language too late, but the resolution's sponsor took his colleagues to task. (Western Mass P&I)
- Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was the subject of a racial slur from a fan at Fenway Park this week. And he's not the only player who says they've heard similar things before in Boston. (Boston Globe)
- At its graduation next week, officials at UMass say it will not allow the Tibetan flag to be flown during the "Parade of Nations" part of the commencement ceremony. The school says it only flies the flags of nations recognized by the state department. And one student went to Senator Elizabeth Warren looking for help. (NEPR)
